Hi Bill. That's the one thing I haven't tried yet, pulling audio devices, because every time I reconnect them it rearranges the order and I have to run around changing settings. I can try that next though, yeah. I didn't want to do it because I needed my audio stable for something else, but now I have a whole week to mess with it until I need that again. The microphone doesn't have drivers to uninstall. I don't run with a hotkey, just the shortcut on my desktop. Good to know I can give CW tech support a shot, if I feel the need to try that. I generally use tech support as an absolute last resort, because I tend to find that I know enough about computers that if I feel the need to call tech support, they're not even going to understand my problem at first. Then they usually tell me they've never had that happen before, heh. I once even had a company's support tell me it was impossible for me to do something I was in the middle of doing right that very second.

Hmm, have you contacted Cakewalk tech support? You can try calling and
explaining that you are a customer of Dancing Dots and that SONAR 8.5 is
effectively the latest version we can use at present. Officially, they no
longer offer telephone tech support for 8.5 to the mainstream user. You can
also try writing to support@xxxxxxxxxxxx for help.

I presume you have run SONAR with your USB microphone disconnected? What
about uninstalling the drivers for that device until you can get SONAR back
up and running?

Hope you can get this resolved soon.

I do remember that you do not want to run SONAR by using a hotkey such as
ALT+CONTROL+S because it somehow triggers that dialog about personal
settings. That is, try starting SONAR from the Start Menu or a shortcut on
your desktop instead of using a hotkey.
