Hi, if you launch sonar with the shift key held down, what happens? It
should start in safe mode. Also, mme drivers are probably not the best. Use
asio or wdm if available. If not grab asio for all and try that with your
mic.

In case this wasn't clear, I meant reinstalling Sonar, not windows or such.
If nobody comes up with anything in the next day or so I'll try a system
restore. It just seems like overkill to me. It strikes me that I should be
able to alter Sonar somehow or other and get it back to what it was doing
previously, as opposed to altering my entire system. Plus it doesn't really
tell me what's going on. Suppose the restore works. 
Great, I've got Sonar working again, but if I want to actually try using my
USB microphone and the same thing happens again when I set it to use
MME32 drivers, I'm right back at the same place. I don't know what happened,
and all I can do to fix it is a restore. It's not a very elegant or
informative solution, and that sort of thing always bothers me.
