Short of checking one of my own Raspberry Pi boot cards, 52 megabytes
does sound about right for the FAT32 boot partition. The root
partition should be multiple gigabytes(either roughly the size of the
image file you wrote with Etcher or filling most of the card if a
successful boot occurred and it's a self-expanding image, but given
Window's abyssmal support for non-native filesystems, I'm not sure the
root partition would even show up in explorer, and as I haven't used
Windows with any regularity since the XP days, I have no clue how best
to view the card's full partition table under Windows.
Also, this might seem obvious and basic, but since I find that a
surprising number of problems are caused by neglecting the obvious and
basic, I'll ask anyways:
Is the SD card larger than the image file you're trying to write to
it? Even if the image's content is mostly empty and all files
contained within are properly written to the card, I suspect an
unexpected end of filesystem for the root partition could cause
problems.
