On Windows I use a utility call wnetwatcher from Nirsofer. You can get it
from:
https://www.nirsoft.net/
This utility displays all devices connected to your local network together
with the IP address.

That sounds pretty convenient, but I'm concerned about how to get the IP
address of the RasPi. After Googling around quite a bit and not finding any
solutions I liked, I hacked together a rather peculiar workaround:
