Why wouldn’t you just pull the IP address from the DHCP list of reservations?

That sounds pretty convenient, but I'm concerned about how to get the IP
address of the RasPi. After Googling around quite a bit and not finding any
solutions I liked, I hacked together a rather peculiar workaround:
