Hi Thomas,
concerning the problem with pressing the letter c for play cut/preview. If I
select a time range which starts at time zero, and press c, all I get is a
delay before hearing the audio after the selected time range - I don't hear any
distortion.
You can change the length of playback before and after in the playback category
of preferences. So if you wanted to hear the audio after the selection, you
could set the preview before cut region to zero.
Unfortunately there currently isn't a command to play the audio just before the
end of a selection. One work around for this would be:
1. choose region save on the edit menu.
2. press right arrow to move the cursor to the end of the selected time range,
and deselect the time range.
3. hold down shift+left arrow for a second or two to move the start of
selection a little earlier.
4. press spacebar to play.
5. choose region restore on the edit menu.

David.

Hi David!

Thank you so much for an interesting answer.
My problem may be that I am used to do something like the following when I'm
editing:
When I have found the start of the edit I set a marker. In Audacity this would
be the left bracket key.
I then listen until I find the place where I want to make the end of the edit,
so I push the right bracket key.
Now I want to adjust the start and finish of the edit.
And here I find it a little hard inside Audacity. I get the idea that I can
move by shift and the arrowkeys to extend the length of the selected audio and
CTRL-shift and the arrowkeys to decrease the length of the audio.
What I would like to do is the following:
Instead of listening to the entire selected audio I wish there was a keystroke
that would play where the start or the end of the selection was, so I could
adjust this a little easier. Now I find myself listening over and over to the
same audio and it takes a little longer to get the edits right.
I can use the C-key but if I do this in the start of a file Audacity raws
something at me like distorsion because there is nothing to play before the
time 0:00.

I believe I could do something that would make my edits a lot easier, but
haven't figured out the bst way of doing this. Do you have any suggestions?

Best regards
Thomas
