In windows, and using an english or US keeboard, you can use the left and right
brackets to mark the beginning and end of a selection. In case of a different
keeboard, you can probably change the kee assigned to the marks in the keeboard
shortkuts dialog under the preferences menu; probably the same applies to mac
as well.

Like Windows system, I can select and unselect my track… I’m verifying before
editing my track…
I d’ont understand why I can’t select easily with my arrow keys…
Can we make any markers on a track like others sound editors ? Beginner marker
and end markers… After we can delete that there’s between two markers ?

Well, i’m not a mac user and actually never used it, but i had the same
problem with the windows version.
Reading the manual, i found that by default, at least in windows, all the
audio in a track is selected unless we actually make a selection.
So I followed the instructions and just went to the preferences menu and
to the tracks dialog. Tabbing arround, there i found
Behaviors Select all audio in project, if none selected check box checked,
and unchecked it.
Also, it’s important to press enter to actually select a track before being
able to edit the audio. I don’t really know if these rules apply to the mac
system, but hope that helps anyway.

Hi,
I’m a new user of Audacity.
I’m mac user.
So I’d like to select a pice of record on one track. For example, begin
selection at 00:00:03 to end selection at 00:00:03.
I can use selection bar but if I want be more perfect I must adjust selection
with Shift+right arrow or Shift+left Arrow or Shift+Command+Right arrow and
Shift+Command+Left Arrow.
But when I want to make selection with arrow key, if I delete selection, all
content of my track is deleted. Before, I see in selection bar what it’s select
and my selection is good.
Please, tell me if I forget something to delete juste my selection and not
all content of track !!!
I’m french lol… Sorry for my bad english…
