Dear Dan,
Thanks for your comments. I've just popped into a rich thread on CT after six
weeks in the desert!
I wouldn't recommend a therapist, nor go to one who was cruel and demeaning,
regardless of his or her supposed brilliance.
I am reminded of some teachings by a different sort of guru, Neem Karoli Baba.
He said, 'Love everyone. Always tell the truth.'

Your response touches to the core of this paradox. Allow me to parse your
words and comment.
You know what: Bert was right.
Bert was speaking a truth.
His response reduced my size and weight to almost nothing.
Spirit-Mind [Bert] is sometimes cruel.
There you have it. Yes, his comments were always incredibly spot-on. Yes, he
can be demeaning and cruel. I remember that mother and son well. His
assessment of the family situation was absolutely correct and it was cruel
and demeaning. In fact, that was the last straw for me. I have not seen him
since. Not because he was wrong or even because he was cruel. It is because
as that mother and son plodded up the aisle and out the door, I could no
longer tolerate bearing witness to one more such scene.
Six years later, a young woman who was raped has asked for your help. You
feel not ready to take on trauma of this nature fearing you might do more
harm than good. From this, I ask, does Hellingers cruel and demeaning manner
do more harm than good?
