Hey DJX that’s great to hear.
My local store has its own service centre right in shop, so the good news is
that they do take the time to look at your defective equipment.

Lol. If soundcraft gives 2 year warranty on the unit, he must call them
directly. Guitar center won’t do much after the 45 day refund period, unless
he purchased gc pro coverage from them. Even then, they won’t really
troubleshoot at the store, they’ll probably have him ship to one of their
service centers.

yes totally agreed I would hate to damage some one elses computer system.
Thanks as always DJX for you input is always appreciated.
In actual fact I have told Terry to speak to the Guitar centre to see if they
didn’t give him a 2 year warrantee, which is what those boards are suppose to
have.
I own two of them, and actually took one apart just for fun, so I can tell
you that the power supply is a bit tricky to remove.
Now I don’t want any rep fro sound craft to skin me alive lol, just that I’m
the type of guy who loves to take things apart.
When I was a child I had my mothers radio set in total pieces, but was able
to successfully put it together lol.
Have also taken the chance in taken my boss me 80 apart too lol.
Just love getting my self in to trouble lol, but I suppose its just the teky
in me lol.

Ok. That will make that problem more difficult to fix if it is the power
supply.
Have you guys tried calling soundcraft? If you are going to try it on
another computer, I would try and use an external hub. That way, if there is
a USB short, it won’t damage the computer. Most regular computers don’t have
the USB port protection i mentioned last night, that’s usually found on
higher end boards, like the ones we OEM use for systems.
You don’t want to damage somebody else’s computer by testing :)

Hey DJX unfortunately the power supply is built right in to the board, and
has to be taken apart to actually gain access to it lol.
In actual fact I took one of my boards apart the other day and know this to
be accurate lol.
Thanks so much for confirming that even thought he port is welded on that
its actually from another company chip set.
I’ve asked Terry to see if he couldn’t gain access to another computer
system before actually putting this to rest lol.

Hey Mike no prob.
Even though the USB port is soldered on, the USB chipset is most likely a
separate package. Most manufacturers purchase chipsets, only company I’ve
heard of who build their own USB chipsets was RME.
In any case, if he can plug in another device to the computer on the same
port, and it works, it probably is the actual mixer.
It might be as you said, the unit’s power supply. Is it an external brick?
Or is it built in?
Is the unit natively a USB 2 device? Or a USB3?
I’m assuming you guys already did the basic stuff like switch and try a
different wire etc?

Hey DJX first of all, I just wanted to apologize that I sent out themessage
stating that your content couldn’t bet read, however after a little while,
I was able to re open the message, and all worked fine.
Toanswer your question on why I think it would come down tot he PC in the
end is because the Board stays on when not plugged in to the uSB port of
the computer system.
I have the same issue with one of my computers where the mixer console kept
on turning it self on/off like Terry’s is doing, and when I switched to
another computer, the mixer console functioned just fine.
The FW 1884 Had a separate firewire card built in to the motherboard, where
as the Signature has the port welded directly in to the board.
There has to be a battery of some sorts on the board because the effects
processor is digital, and retains its patch change when you turn off the
board.
It could very well be that the power supply on the mixer console is giving
out, as I just did some research on geersluts and several folks reported
issues with power supply issues.
“sorry Terry”
I suppose we could dance around this problem all night long, but I
suggested to Terry that he call his centre, and speak to them, and they
could trouble shoot the problem, as at this point anything is possible,
which is why I’m not stating what I have stated in previous threads as a
100% solution.
At any rate I’m hoping that terry can resolve this.
